July 10, 2010 - Carrie Underwood Gets Married in Southern Style

Under a tent on a Southern evening, Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher shared what their wedding planner called “a spiritual expression of their love” – a special moment for a “very special couple.”

The country star, 27, and her hockey player beau, 30, tied the knot at a luxury resort Saturday before 250 friends and family in a ceremony featuring classical music and the couple’s favorite Bible readings.

“We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us!” the newlyweds told PEOPLE in a statement, signing their names “Mike & Carrie Fisher.”

Underwood wore a Chantilly lace dress created for her by Monique Lhuillier, who also designed the bridesmaids’ dresses.

Fisher, who plays for the Ottawa Senators, was engaged to Underwood on Dec. 20, after quietly dating for about a year. Underwood told PEOPLE in March that with their busy schedules, “We’ll be little nomads for a while” and that they planned to keep homes in Nashville and in Peterborough, Ontario.

May 10, 2010 - Tim McGraw and Faith Hill to Hold Star-Studded Benefit Concert for Nashville

Many of country music’s biggest stars will band together for special concert on June 22, organized by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, to benefit Nashville in the wake of its devastating floods.

“Nashville Rising: A Benefit Concert For Flood Recovery,” will be held at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. The lineup so far includes the husband-and-wife hosts, along with Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, LeAnn Rimes and others.

“The damage that we’ve seen to people’s homes and the effect that the flooding has had on their lives is unimaginable. But we’ve seen the spirit of our community firsthand, as volunteers, church groups and our local business leaders rally to help,” McGraw and Hill said in a statement.

“We all need to continue to support those in need in any way that we can, and for that reason we could not be more appreciative to all of the artists, the companies and the people behind the scenes who collectively will make June 22 a truly special night.”

Severe storms and extensive flooding on the weekend of May 1 left almost two dozen people dead in Tennessee. In Nashville itself, the Grand Ole Opry was inundated, and many country-music artists had precious equipment damaged or lost.

A star-studded benefit telethon last Thursday raised some $1.7 million for flood relief, in addition to Taylor Swift donating $500,000.

“Nashville Rising” will benefit the Community Foundation, which provides philanthropic services in Middle Tennessee. Tickets go on sale this Friday, May 14. More information is available at NashvilleRising.org.
